My Thoughts On Greek "Agents For Change"

"I just want you to know I miss you."

Last night’s episode of Greek had a lot of things that could be called major reaches in the plot.  Basically everything involved in the Justin Bieber storyline was a stretch.  No one should have believed pledge Spidey as the Biebs and no one should have ever believed that Justin Bieber would play a concert at a sorority house on 3 days notice in the first place.  But there was one thing to be said about all the reaches in the storyline… I DID NOT CARE!  This was an awesome episode of Greek.  It had so much I liked that I am not even going to devote a full paragraph to what I did not like.  I have pretty much gotten that out of the way already.  So why don’t we jump right in to what made this not only a successful penultimate episode, but one of my favorite episodes in all of the shows history.
It seemed like this whole episode was about redemption of one’s character.  The Evan and Rusty storyline was gold.  If we had to see jerky and sleazy Evan for most of this season to make his redemption moment that much sweeter, then it was totally worth it.  When you think about it, Evan has waffled back and forth between good and evil more times than any other character.  It makes sense that the one person who could make him see the true error in his ways is the person who in a sense started his downfall in the pilot episode of this show.  Every moment of Evan at home with his parents felt so genuine and that last scene with him and Rusty talking as 2 people who put their past aside to accomplish something was so perfect an ending for the Evan Character that I almost don’t want to see him in the finale.  Some may think it was farfetched for the whole story with the two of them together to even take place but they established with “Midnight Clear” that they can be in the same room together without automatically attacking each other.
Last night’s episode also saw the long awaited return of Frannie to the ZBZ house.  I always enjoyed Frannie as a character because Tiffany DuPont is a great actress and also, the stories seem so much better when Casey has a female heel to compete with.  I think one of the major problems with this season has been Casey’s problems have been mostly self generated and she lacked that common female enemy once it was obvious that her and Rebecca were not going to be at each other’s throats.  And while Frannie was not intentionally being evil, it was good to see that same adversarial chemistry between her and Casey.  It was also great to see her fall right back into “Cyprus Rhodes” Frannie no matter how hard she tried to fight it, right down to calling Rebecca poodle.  I also really enjoyed seeing Casey realize just how much ZBZ meant to her.  Casey has always been the one who wanted to move on in to the real world but it is not until she sees Ashleigh putting in half the effort and Frannie living her life in the real world that maybe this place means more to her then others because it helped her define who she was, a tough woman who needs to a leader and who can be relied on.
SOME OTHER THOUGHTS
We even got some redemption for that red headed basterd Trip!  Good job by the show writers to remember that Trip and Calvin were in the same pledge class and that Chip was not always an ass

As great as the Frannie storyline was, the best part was easily Cappie reacting to seeing Frannie like a scared schoolgirl, complete with girlish yelp.

So Dale is back in Omega Chi.  Very nice scene when various brothers and pledges went to battle for him.  As different as Dale is, the one thing he is for sure is loyal and it was good to see that loyalty reciprocated for the second week in a row

So Next week we see the end of Greek.  It is sure to be a fun and emotional hour.  The toughest thing a show in its last season has to do is set up the finale in the penultimate episode and then deliver a satisfying finale.  With this episode Greek did more than accomplish the first half of that equation.  I give it 10 out of 10.  Now excuse me while I go re watch previous seasons and cry.
